THIS CITY IS OURS…

Nashville's Daughters explores the deep historical context of Nashville, TN in social movements to inspire and equip young women, especially those of color to engage in meaningful social action. Workshops engage participants through art, mentorship, Social Emotional Learning, and a historically based social action lesson in an affirming environment that cultivates healing, siblinghood, and radical community building. The program is guided by mentors (femtors).

Nashville’s Daughters originated in 2017 when Brittany T. Paschall was named a National ELLA Fellow with the Sadie Nash Leadership Project. In early 2019, Nashville’s Daughters became a program of We Remember Nashville. Members of the ‘18 Class have since gone on to Post-Secondary institutions such as Spelman College and Brown University. More importantly, they have become fierce and courageous young women who are committed to their communities.

Nashville's Daughters is open to 9th-12th grade self-identified young women in the Nashville area.

The COVID-19 Pandemic required us to cancel spring programing. Instead, we will offer a specially curated Virtual Summer Experience. Applications are available here. Space is limited and applications received by June 01, 2020 will be prioritized.

About The Virtual Summer Experience: The Virtual Summer Experience for girls in Grades 9-12 focused on Community Building, Social-Emotional Learning, + Historical Exploration. Participants will participate in weekly online sessions in addition to receiving an at-home kit and guide for self-paced activities.
